Talafofo Falls

Talafofo Falls is actually a series of small waterfalls with numerous natural swimming pools. These pools are home to very large shrimp. This is the only continuously flowing river in Saipan and originates from a spring a mile inland. The hike to the falls is challenging and can take 30 to 90 minutes depending on the condition of the trail. My family, which included a 5 year old, 7 year old, and a 13 year old, hiked up there a week after typhoon Chaba and the trail was nonexistent. It is best to go there with someone who has been there before. I have been there a few times and I still got lost many times trying to find a route through the jungle. Whenever possible it was easiest to walk in the river itself. It is beautiful and well worth the hike, once every few years anyway.
